Assisted living is a great fit for seniors or couples who are still active and social, but just need some extra help with daily life.

  • Assisted Living may be for you if you need assistance with things like cooking, cleaning, personal care (bathing, dressing, grooming), or managing medication.
  • Assisted Living may not be the right choice if you need a higher level of care, such as memory/dementia support or a higher level of medical care including rehab from an illness or injury or ongoing in-house medical care for chronic conditions.

Minimum and Maximum Monthly Income Requirements Apply

Note: without Medicaid, prospective residents will need social security plus other income / assets to cover Assisted Living costs of approximately $3,500 a month.

Minimum Monthly Income:

  • With Medicaid: $1,800 (both income and assets considered)
  • Without Medicaid: $3,400

Maximum Monthly Income:

  • $3,570

Inclusive monthly rate: $2,761.00 – $3,565.00

Monthly costs include:

  • 3 restaurant-style meals per day
  • Weekly housekeeping, including linen change
  • Weekly laundry, up to 2 loads
  • Assistance with dressing
  • Medication (we administer, order and use our contracted pharmacy)
  • Daily activities
  • Scheduled transportation to doctor appointments, community outings, and shopping
  • All utilities included, except telephone line (includes 70+ channels of cable)
  • 24-hour caregivers
  • Safety checks

Additional Services not Included in monthly rate:

  • $450.00 Transfers and escorts: Transfers from chair to bed, bed to chair, etc.
  • $450.00 Incontinence: Provide toileting reminders and assistance on a schedule or per request
  • $50 Escorts to and from dining room and activities

To move forward on a reservation, please provide separate checks made out to Deer Springs Assisted Living for Deposit, Application Fee, and Medical Assessment Fee.

  • Medical Assessment Fee: $150.00
  • One-Time Pet Fee: $550.00
  • Monthly Outside Pharmacy Fee: $200.00
  • Annual TB Testing Fee: $50.00

Documentation required before we can verify that you qualify for residency:

  • All pages of the Social Security benefit letter – include gross amount, deduction for Medicare Part B and net amount per month
    • OR:
  • Pension: name and account number to verify
  • Photo I.D.
  • Social Security Number required; present physical card if available
  • Medicare Card
  • All medical cards
  • Bank Accounts: Provide name of bank, money market, etc. and full account numbers, OR 6 months of bank statements or 6 months average savings account balance statement
  • Copy of Mortgage Statement – if applicable. Sale of home documents if sold within the past 2 years
  • Divorce Paperwork if within 5 years
  • Power of Attorney (POA documents)

Medicaid Important Information

  • Medicaid takes approximately three to six (3 – 6) months for approval. Once Medicaid is approved and the resident appears the Medicaid website, a Care Credit of $800.00 per month will be credited to the resident's account.

Aid and Attendance VA benefit

  • This benefit is for veterans, their spouses, and widowed spouses of veterans. Remarriage or divorce severs the spouse award.
  • Program pays retroactive months of funds when awarded up to 12 months.
  • We will connect you with Patriot Angels for assistance with the application.
  • It is not service connected, it is a benefit to reimburse care needs of aging and disability through disease, injury, and age-related mobility.
  • Approved service dates:
    • World War II December 7, 1941 – December 31, 1946
    • Korean Conflict, June 27, 1950 – January 31, 1955
    • Vietnam Era, November 1, 1955 – May 7, 1975
    • Veterans who served "in country" before August 5, 1964
    • Dates: February 28, 1961 – May 7, 1965
    • Gulf War August 2, 1990 – Through a date to be set.
  • Needed Documentation for Aid and Attendance VA Benefit:
    • DD214
    • Marriage certificate – if applicable
    • Death Certificate – if applicable

In Assisted Living, a resident makes their home in a private apartment with the convenience of maintenance, housekeeping and laundry services, and has full access to an active lifestyle that includes ample access to entertainment, recreation, dining and transportation.

Assisted Living is a wonderful option for seniors who no longer wish to live alone or may need some help, but who do not need or want institutionalized care in a nursing home. It is best suited for seniors who do not require complex medical care but may require additional support with personal care and daily activities.

Assisted Living communities are designed for seniors who may not be able to live on their own safely, but do not require the higher level of care provided in a nursing home. Assisted Living communities are designed as a setting that provides assistance on various levels in maintaining and enhancing the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual well-being of the residents that reside in the community based on their preferences.

Assisted living communities offer a wide range of services, such as minimal to extensive assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, escorting, etc.), medication management, meal service, transportation, housekeeping, laundry services, life enrichment/community life, and coordination of care with various health-related entities.

Assisted Living provides and/or coordinates personal services, 24 hours a day, with supervision by a licensed nurse and staff or assistants.

The philosophy of assisted living emphasizes personal dignity, autonomy, independence, privacy, and freedom of choice. An assisted living community is a program which combines housing, health, and supportive services for the support of residents aging in place. This environment promotes health and emphasizes wellness in a warm, dignified, community setting. Residents live in their own private apartment that they can furnish and decorate as they choose. This environment is dictated by resident preferences and choice for all services provided. Residents have the freedom to decide which activities and community events they want to participate in or how they want to spend their day.

Nursing Homes provide skilled nursing care, which is a higher level of medical care, which must be provided by or under the direct supervision of licensed health professionals, such as physicians, registered nurses (RNs) and physical, speech, and occupational therapists. These services can be necessary over the short-term for rehabilitation from an illness or injury, or they may be required over the long-term for patients who need a high level of care on a frequent or constant basis due to a chronic medical condition. Examples of skilled nursing services include wound care, intravenous (IV) therapy, injections, and monitoring of vital signs and medical equipment.

Our beautiful dining room is open and airy, yet intimate and comfortable, providing residents with three nutritious meals daily.  We have daily specials, but residents are offered a variety of menu items from which they may choose.

Our Executive Chef loves to create fresh and flavorful meals.  Residents enjoy a variety a meals, choice, and managed nutrition.  Our menus contain seasonal offerings and are reviewed by a Registered Dietitian to ensure that meals contain the right balance of nutrients to maintain health.

Guests and family are always welcome to dine with our residents.

Our residents thrive when they have an active and engaged lifestyle that promotes connections to other residents, family, friends, and the community.

The on-site Activity Specialist oversees a jam-packed activities calendar! Activities are driven by the interests and needs of our residents.  We want our residents to be as busy as they want to be.

Activities frequently change but here are some examples:  silver sneakers walking club, chair yoga, musical guests and concerts, holiday celebrations, giant crosswords, ice cream socials, game nights, skits, birthday and anniversary parties, movie nights, bingo, TED talks and documentary viewings, pet parades, carnival night, chess and checker competitions, religious services, and theme dinners are just a few activities that might go on in any given week.

Potential residents must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Must want or need assisted living services
  • Must income qualify
  • All members of the household must be at least 55 years of age at the time they move into the community.
  • Must be either an individual or a two-person household
