Our Mission Since 1993

Nevada HAND (Housing And Neighborhood Development) improves the lives of low-income individuals with affordable housing solutions and supportive Resident Services.

Dear Neighbor,

2024 was an exciting year at Nevada HAND, which you’ll read more about in this report. Every day of the year, our team of 300 staff members work to bring our mission to life and ensure that over 8,200 low-income residents have “More Than a Home.”

We know that high-quality, affordable housing is the key to everything: for seniors to live independent, healthy lives and for working families to achieve financial stability and unlock future opportunity. To help people truly thrive, Nevada HAND’s housing model includes access to on-site Resident Services offering personalized support, resources, and education.

We are proud of all Nevada HAND has accomplished since our founding in 1993, and excited to continue developing and building, advocating for affordable housing, and serving residents in 2025 and beyond. Thank you for being part of our community. Your support is key to our mission, helping residents open the door to a better life.

Sincerely,

Audra Hamernik

Our Impact: Resident Services

When you donate to Nevada HAND, your entire contribution supports on-site Resident Services across all 36 communities.
We take pride in offering Resident Services built on four pillars: Education, Health & Wellness, Financial Stability, and Community Engagement. This program empowers residents to live happy, healthy, and stable lives by providing resources and support such as supplemental food, transportation, assistance with accessing community benefits, and educational and engagement activities.

2024 Senior Choice Food Pantries

In 2024, we logged 7,621 visits at our 7 on-site food pantries. Each monthly pantry visit saves a low-income senior approximately $120 in grocery costs, or about the cost of 30 meals. For so many senior residents on a tight budget, the pantries mean they don’t have to choose between affording food and other necessities like utilities or medication.

It means everything. I often don’t have food for the last two weeks of the month and the pantry helps get me through.” ~ Nevada HAND Senior Resident

The Block Party is our biggest annual fundraising event.

Our second annual Block Party on October 3, 2024, was a joyful success, thanks to everyone who attended and the support of our generous sponsors.
We had a fun night out at Symphony Park and raised over $300,000, enough to fund our Senior Choice Food Pantries for one year!
