Glenn Barton, a Director since 1995, Mr. Barton currently serves as Chairman. Barton is the Vice President of the Commercial Division for Stewart Title of Nevada and previously as former Managing Director for the Meyers Group consulted on many of the major developments and master planned communities. In the past he also oversaw the quarterly production of the Las Vegas Competitive Housing Market. A founding member of the Lied Institute for Real Estate Studies at UNLV and past member of the Land Faire, Barton is considered to be one of the most knowledgeable professionals in the Southern Nevada housing market.
Stan Herman, one of the newest members, joined the Board in early 2005. Herman was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He was one of four brothers that were all professional boxers. Herman professionally boxed for three years all over Europe. When Herman was 19 years old he moved from Scotland to the UK to work in the garment industry. He immigrated to California 48 years ago. Herman has two daughters, two sons, and three grandchildren, and currently resides at one of our family communities.
Eloiza Martinez has served as a Director and the Secretary of Nevada H.A.N.D., Inc. since 1994. Eloiza is currently an Assistant Vice President and Community Reinvestment Officer for Wells Fargo Bank and has over 17 years of banking experience. Eloiza supervises the Community Development Loan Department, which insures loans are made to low and moderate-income people. Eloiza also conducts banking classes in both English and Spanish. Eloiza’s community involvement includes: Director for the Latin Chamber of Commerce, President of the NHS of Southern Nevada, NALA, Vice President for Golden Rule, Vice President of Habitat for Humanity, Xmas in April, Election Volunteer, Optimist Club-Sunrise Culture, and board member for Nevada Micro Enterprise Initiative.
Francis Odom, one of the newest members, Odom joins the Board with over 30 years of experience in the Banking Industry working for First Security Bank holding the following positions: Assistant Branch Manager, Assistant V.P. Real Estate, Branch Manager, Credit Officer, Management Trainee, Manger Credit Administration, and Operations Officer, giving Odom a vast and in-depth knowledge of the Banking industry which he now brings to the Board of Directors. Odom also serves on the following boards: Urban Chamber, NALA (Child Care and Senior Services org.), and Nevada Housing Services.
Ed Rowe, one of the newest members, Rowe joins the Board with over 45 years of experience in management consulting, grant writing, and advertising/marketing/public relations arena working for a myriad of marketing/advertising firms. Rowe has professional experience with grant proposal writing, public relations, broadcasting, fund raising, seminar presentation/teaching, and contract negotiation/writing. Author of three published books, Rowe currently serves as a grant proposal writer, editor, and consultant to non-profit corportations. He and his wife Lois have four children, and currently reside at one of our senior living communities.
Duane Sonnenberg, an elected Director in 1994, he has been the Administrator of the Homeless Services Department Salvation Army for 15 years. This department provides services that include 100 shelter beds, a day shelter, two mental health facilities, vocational training programs, case management and outreach services and serves approximately 900 meals daily. He is a State of Nevada Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor and a Licensed Residential Facility Administrator. In the past seven years, Duane has written $10.5 million in grant requests and been awarded $8.67 million in funding with an average grant award of $179,000. Ordained by the Church of the Nazarene in 1972, he served 15 years as a pastor. Professionally affiliated with the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors and the Health Care for the Homeless Clinicians Network. Community involvement includes: Southern Nevada Homeless Coalition Steering Committee, President of the Meadows Homeowners Association, and a representative of the State of Nevada as a Member of the Nevada Delegation to the 2001 Policy Academy for State and Local Policymakers on Homeless Families with Children.
