HAND Resident Services

In 1999, Nevada H.A.N.D., Inc. created the Resident Services Department (RSD) to enhance the quality of lives of our residents. Through annual resident assessments the Resident Services Coordinators help determine basic household and quality of life needs and link our residents to local services and programs that provide tangible pass-through benefits.

These linkages and collaborations include:

o Energy assistance programs
o Cable service discounts
o Phone service discounts
o Food commodities including NHI’s food bank
o Emergency utility assistance
o GED curriculum through the Clark County School District
o Youth programs for social service advancement
o Back to school assistance
o Wellness activities and nutritional education
o Senior programs to sustain independent living

The RSD supports Activity Centers at two of NHI’s family properties that provide for after school programs and social interaction for youth. RSD’s Wellness Instructor conducts scheduled exercise classes for NHI’s senior properties, including water aerobics during summer months, and fundamental nutrition classes to foster a balance between diet and exercise.

The pass-through benefits to NHI residents that the RSD facilitates exceed $400,000 per year. Additionally, RSD programs promote low resident turnover and higher resident satisfaction.
